The Greatest Rebellion
Creating beauty in a place that isn’t built for it isn’t easy. It’s an act of defiance. It’s a rebellion against everything that seeks to break you.
It is the determined effort to hold fast to your mind—or reclaim it—in situations you cannot control, and refuse to let the darkness swallow you.
It’s the hardest thing a human being can do—to be chained at the bottom of the sea and still believe in the surface.
My hope is that no matter how difficult your situation is, you will not only endure it—you will hold fast to your heart and mind, choosing light over darkness, until you become a light so bright that darkness cannot extinguish it.
It will be the most difficult thing you ever do; I know that personally. But it is also the most important. We face that choice every day. We decide every day. In little things and in big ones.
From someone who knows what it is to be chained at the bottom of the sea, I hope you continue to believe in the surface. That is home.
